Lovina Beach Hotel is an ideal place as your home-base in Bali on your long or short holiday. From this hotel you can easily capture the whole beauty of the scenery as well as the cultural activities anywhere in the Bali island.
The main challenge was to modernize the brand identity, especially the logo without losing its original character. The existing logo held historical and emotional value for the hotel, so I couldn’t reinvent it entirely. Instead, the goal was to refine it: make it cleaner, more versatile, and aligned with modern design standards, all while preserving the soul of the original.
What made it tricky:
The logo needed to be simplified for clarity and scalability, especially for digital use, but I had to keep the recognizable elements intact.
There were no existing guidelines for color usage, typography, logo usage, or brand voice, so everything had to be built from scratch.
The updated identity had to feel familiar to returning guests, but fresh enough to attract new ones in an increasingly competitive market.
To address the unique challenge of updating Lovina Beach Hotel’s brand identity without losing its heritage, I took a careful, strategic approach that balanced respect for the original design with the need for modern clarity and usability.
Logo Refinement:
Preserved Key Elements: I retained the core visual symbols and structure of the original logo, ensuring it still felt familiar to existing guests.
Simplified for Versatility: I refined details, reduced unnecessary elements, and adjusted the logo for better readability across all sizes, from signage to social media avatars
Optimized for Digital & Print: Created scalable versions in vector format, and ensured the logo worked in monochrome, inverted, and on various backgrounds.
With no existing brand system, I created a full brand guideline to ensure consistency and professionalism in all communications going forward.
Key components included:
Color Palette: Client wanted to use colors from the old logo, which is red, green, and black.
Typography: Selected a clean, timeless font pairing that balances elegance with readability, giving the brand a modern yet approachable voice.
Logo Usage Rules: Defined clear do’s and don’ts to protect logo integrity across platforms.
Photography Style: Set guidelines for imagery, emphasizing natural light, relaxed moments, and the authentic beauty of Lovina.
